Dr. Megan Jones joined Dr. Natalie Wessels at her Bergvliet practice in 2016. Their paths first crossed during their internship years at Groote Schuur Hospital. Now, nearly ten years later, they are excited at the prospect of growing a family oriented practice in your community.
Born and bred in Cape Town, Dr. Jones completed an undergraduate degree in Social Science, majoring in Psychology and Sociology, at UCT in 1998. After a brief stint abroad and some soul-searching, she returned to UCT to study medicine and graduated in 2006. She remained at Groote Schuur Hospital for two years of internship and saw out her community service at Delft Community Health Centre and Alexandra Hospital in Maitland - where she stayed on as the Senior Medical Officer whilst obtaining a diploma in Mental Health.
Her last public service post was the one she loved the most - she worked in the GF Jooste Infectious Disease Referral Unit in Manenberg, Cape Town. Here, she had the privilege of working with many of the most esteemed physicians in the areas of HIV and TB, and completed her diploma in HIV Management. With the closure of GF Jooste and the birth of her first child, she made the move into private practice as a locum at a busy Strandfontein practice.
Her husband, Gary Groenewald, is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Kingsbury Hospital - where she regularly assists him in theatre. The joys of their lives are their two lovely daughters, Emily and Charlotte.
Dr. Megan Jones looks forward to exploring new avenues, including venturing into aesthetic medicine in the near future, and furthering her experience as a family physician at the Bergvliet Family Practice for many years to come.
